Volunteering is such a fulfilling and personal way to give back. If you don’t fancy climbing Kilimanjaro but still want to make a difference, this is the perfect way to do so! Volunteering is a fantastic way to create wonderful memories whilst helping out deserving causes, both local and international, all whilst creating new friends and building new skills!
Volunteering In The Community
Our events in term 1 include volunteering at the annual Kenilworth Fireworks - a fantastic night of volunteering with friends and getting into the festive spirit with free admission to one of the biggest firework displays in the UK! Thanks to our brilliant volunteers and The Kenilworth Roundtable, in 2019 we managed to raise £1,000 for the Leamington Night Shelter!
Also available in term 1 is the Big Birmingham Sleepout in aid of St Basil’s, the UK’s leading homelessness charity. The sleepout consists of building a cardboard shelter and sleeping outside on the grounds of St Philip’s Cathedral, Birmingham, with the aim of fundraising for St Basil’s and tackling the stigma against homelessness. Join us for a fun night with a festive atmosphere!
Come along to our 24hr piazza bikeathon in February in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity whether you’d like to cycle, donate, or for a chat after POP!
East African Playgrounds- Uganda Gorilla Trek
Take on the challenge of trekking and canoeing through the foothills of volcanoes and the lakes of Western Uganda. Experience the landscape, culture and wildlife of the country as you pass through a variety of different terrains, altitudes and beauties, staying on small islands at the heart of local communities along the way. Spend an unforgettable day finding the last remaining silverback gorillas, feeling like a true explorer as you cut your way through the underbrush to find the gentle giants, before spending a breathtaking hour in their company, watching, observing, and walking alongside them. Finally transform an empty field into a safe and exciting playground for generations to enjoy, whilst running creative play sessions with the children: teaching them to make the most of their imagination in education and employment. Immerse yourself in a community, learn some local language, and make a huge impact with a small charity that will last for years and years to come.
