Volunteering In The Community

In a repeat of last year’s success, we will soon be looking for volunteers to help marshal at Kenilworth’s spectacular annual fireworks show. A fantastic experience for internationals wanting to witness a UK Bonfire Night. Stay tuned for more details!
Did you know that Warwick has it’s own cancer research centre? No? Neither do a lot of people! That’s why last term we founded RAG’s own Warwick Cancer Research Centre Funding Committee. This year the committee will be working to bring you fresh volunteering opportunities and fundraising events, all in the name of raising awareness of the WCRC, and raising funds so that they can continue their life-changing research.
A Few Charities We’re Working With:
Fairybricks: A unique charity with one simple goal: to brighten lives by donating Lego bricks to hospitalised children.
YMCA Coventry and Warwickshire: The largest and oldest youth charity in the world, making an impact in lives of young people across the world, YMCA has a Coventry branch that we have worked with in the past.
World Child Cancer: WCC believes that no child, regardless of circumstance, should not have equal access to treatment and care for cancer. They work to support children with cancer, as well as their families worldwide.

Machu Picchu Trek
Machu Picchu- Follow in the footsteps of the Spanish Conquistadors and early 20th Century explorers as you cross the high Peruvian Andes in search of Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Inca. The trek route departs from the bustling colonial mountain town of Cusco and winds its way through breathtaking mountain passes, past sacred mountains and on through humid jungle trails to reach the fabled ruins of Machu Picchu. You'll be supporting Action Against Hunger who work around the world fighting malnutrition and who have a large number of projects in Peru itself!

East African Playgrounds- Uganda Gorilla Trek
Take on the challenge of trekking and canoeing through the foothills of volcanoes and the lakes of Western Uganda. Experience the landscape, culture and wildlife of the country as you pass through a variety of different terrains, altitudes and beauties, staying on small islands at the heart of local communities along the way. Spend an unforgettable day finding the last remaining silverback gorillas, feeling like a true explorer as you cut your way through the underbrush to find the gentle giants, before spending a breathtaking hour in their company, watching, observing, and walking alongside them. Finally transform an empty field into a safe and exciting playground for generations to enjoy, whilst running creative play sessions with the children: teaching them to make the most of their imagination in education and employment. Immerse yourself in a community, learn some local language, and make a huge impact with a small charity that will last for years and years to come.
