How do we pick which Challenges we offer?
This year, we have chosen our challenges programme to primarily make sure our participants are safe and raise as much as we can to the charities that have been incredibly affected by the pandemic. We have prioritised the following 3 factor when making our program:
- Sustainability: we made sure to work with only certified providers and charities when it comes to environmental and philanthropic sustainability. We want the money our participants raise to be put in programs with a long-term, successful vision. We have also prioritised the issue with ethical volunteering and making sure that the volunteering-based challenge we run does not take jobs from the local community, protects children and has a long-term vision
- Human Rights Charities: in the current times of turmoil, we wanted to bring in another human right-based charity. Last year we started working with the wonderful Unseen, who strive to end modern slavery. This year, we have brought in Amnesty International UK, that is a human rights charity that has fought for and protected human rights for nearly 60 years. We are so excited to work with them and support their activist activities.
- Adapting to the Pandemic- in order to reassure our participants and prioritise their safety, we have decided to reduce our international challenges (outside of Europe and UK) from 5 to 2. We understand these times are very uncertain and want to raise as much money as we can for the charities that have suffered tremendously with the pandemic and allow our students to go on their challenges. Every company we are working with has offered free deferrals or will offer free deferrals 10 weeks before the trip
