Being Webmaster for RAG puts you right at the heart of everything going on in the society. Our website brings together all of the information anyone might need about what’s happening with Warwick RAG. It acts as a hub for anyone looking to find out more and get involved in the society. It’s therefore important to make sure I’m aware of everything we have going on to keep the website up to date! A lot of people (exec) seem to think I’m some sort of techno-wizard, but after everything was up-and-running, keeping the site updated hasn’t actually been very complicated! Aside from the website, part of my role is making sure that the society is making the best use of technology in its operation. This can be making sure everyone is using Google Drive to share documents, making sure we’re using platforms like Doodle to organise volunteers or even just answering any questions the rest of the exec have about emails (A lot of the time this just takes adept utilisation of Google).
I think the best thing about the being Webmaster (other than the title) is that you can make the role what you want it to be. You’ve also got the chance to learn new stuff along the way! I’d never used Photoshop before I became webmaster, but it came in handy to edit some photos that were going up on the site and now I can shop photos with the best of them. The website has been my baby over the past months and it’s been really rewarding to see each update or improvement up there! If anybody is on the fence about getting stuck in and becoming our next webmaster, I say go for it! It will be hard for me to let go, but if you’re organised enough, have an eye for design and are eager to get involved with RAG you’d be a great fit to take my place! You just have to ask yourself: #WhatWillYouAchieve?
(bonus photo I used for my Webmaster slide at AGM last year, look how cool I am)
